The record
Byrd's brass and Jordan's tenor front a hard-bop lineup that lets Chambers step forward for once, though Flanagan and Elvin Jones keep the group sound close at hand. This mid-'57 date shows him easing into the spotlight without abandoning the ensemble feel that built his reputation.
