The record
Art Farmer's trumpet threads through this late-'57 Blue Note session, Sonny Clark comping crisply while George Tucker and Louis Hayes keep things moving. Jordan's Chicago-bred tenor sounds settled and confident, hard bop from a player who rarely got his due.

The earliest pressing on file here is the 1958 Blue Note BLP 1582 in mono, and it is the only copy from the record's own era we list -- everything else is a reissue. Japan handled it first, GXK 8113 (M) in 1979 and BN 1582 in 1991. Music Matters cut MMBST-81582 to 45 RPM in 2011, which is the audiophile copy, and Blue Note's 2024 5880784 on 180 gram is the current in-print one.
