The record
A twin-alto summit from early in Pepper's career, pairing his cool, vinegar-sharp tone against Sonny Red's blues-rooted attack, with West Coast heavyweights Hawes and Williamson rotating through the rhythm section. Regent's budget-label packaging belies the caliber of playing -- a snapshot of young Pepper before his more celebrated Contemporary sides.
