The record
A four-part suite of devotion, cut in a single day with the classic quartet at full telepathic strength -- Tyner's modal chords, Jones's rolling thunder, Garrison's four-note vamp anchoring Coltrane's testimony. Impulse!'s orange-and-black spine housing what amounts to a prayer set to tape.

Pressings
The earliest we list is a 1964 Impulse! mono test pressing of A-77. For a playable copy, go to 1965: mono A-77 and stereo AS-77, both carrying an RVG stamp, laminated sleeve and gatefold. British buyers meet the record as His Master's Voice CLP 1869 in mono or CSD 1605 in stereo rather than on an Impulse! jacket. Among reissues, Speakers Corner cut AS-77 in 2001, and Analogue Productions has come back twice -- the 45 RPM AIPJ 77 in 2010 and the 200g UHQR 0007-45 in 2023.
