The record
A Prestige session caught between quintets -- Coltrane, Garland, and Philly Joe Jones already locked in, with both Pettiford and a young Chambers on hand for bass duties. The title track's loping blues shows Davis easing toward the working band that would soon redefine the music.
Session personnel
- Oscar Pettiford — bass
- Paul Chambers — bass
- "Philly" Joe Jones — drums
- Red Garland — piano
- John Coltrane — tenor saxophone
- Miles Davis — trumpet
