The record
Two basses and a horn section deep enough for Cannonball, Golson, and Sahib Shihab turn this 1959 Riverside session into orchestral muscle rather than a simple drum feature. Herbie Mann's flute threads through the ensemble while the drummer behind Miles's rhythm section proves he can drive a crowd this size.
