The record
Recorded as the quartet was expanding into something more ritualistic, this session finds Coltrane opening the door to Pharoah Sanders and vocalist-percussionist Juno Lewis for a side-long invocation that trades chord changes for chant and drone. A transitional document between the classic quartet's lyricism and the ecstatic free explorations to come.
