The record
Henderson's tenor and Coles' trumpet flesh out a quintet from this guitarist's busy 1963 stretch, Patton's organ simmering underneath. Soulful and unhurried, it turns familiar tunes into groove-driven vehicles.

Pressings
Blue Note issued both in 1964: the mono BLP 4139, earliest on file, showing a deep groove, and the stereo BST 84139 with an RVG stamp and a Plastylite ear. The 1966 stereo repressings mostly keep the ear; one, marked NY no P, does not. After that the trail is thin -- a 1981 Applause reissue, APBL 2319, and Japanese limited editions in 1983 and 1993.
