The record
Five voices bending time signatures into odd, weightless shapes -- Hutcherson's vibes and Hubbard's trumpet threading around Dolphy's angular bass clarinet and alto lines, with a teenage Tony Williams already rewriting drum logic. Blue Note's furthest reach into the avant-garde, cut months before Dolphy's death that same year.
