The record
A sextet date with a front line thick enough to double as a small big band, cut early in Hancock's Blue Note run with a young Tony Williams already pushing hard from the kit. Grachan Moncur III's trombone and Grant Green's guitar give the writing extra color, balancing hard-bop drive with the harmonic curiosity Hancock would soon take further.

Pressings
The earliest on file is a 1963 US stereo BST 84126 with deep groove, RVG stamp and Plastylite ear; the mono BLP 4126 from the same year carries RVG stamp, Plastylite ear and a laminated sleeve, so both are on the table. Blue Note repressed the title repeatedly -- 84126 turns up in 1973 and 1976 -- and the European DOL886H and DOL886HG are unofficial releases. No audiophile reissue is listed.
