A hard-driving 1960 date that paired Nelson's sharp-edged arranging instincts with Dolphy's already-radical alto and bass clarinet work, backed by the crack rhythm team of Wyands, Duvivier, and Haynes. An early glimpse of the compositional rigor Nelson would soon perfect on Blues and the Abstract Truth.
