The record
One of Morgan's Vee Jay dates, cut with Blakey behind the kit rather than out front, giving the trumpeter a looser, more spotlighted setting than his Blue Note work. Clifford Jordan's tenor and Eddie Higgins' piano round out a session with a breezy, blowing-date feel.

The earliest pressing on file here is the 1961 Vee Jay mono, LP 3015, with a deep groove; the stereo, SR 3015, came the same year. Vee Jay's numbering is messy in our data -- one 1961 LP 3015 is logged as a stereo misprint -- so read the label rather than trusting the jacket. A UK Stateside mono, SL10016, is listed undated. Japan reissued it as SMJ-7529 in 1969 and RJL-6021 in 1981.
