The record
A sextet date from Morgan's early Blue Note run, with Curtis Fuller's trombone and George Coleman's doubling on tenor and alto thickening the frontline behind the trumpeter's already assured lead. Ray Bryant, Paul Chambers, and Art Taylor keep the hard-bop pulse loose and swinging, a young horn player still sharpening the voice that would soon define him.

Pressings
The earliest on file here is the 1958 US mono, BLP 1575, and it is the one to want -- deep groove, RVG stamp, the 47 W 63rd address, a Plastylite ear and a laminated sleeve. Nothing else appears until 1966, when Liberty repressed both the mono and a stereo BST 81575. Classic Records cut a 200-gram mono, BN 1575-MONO-200G, in 2006. The 2021 and 2024 remasters are both flagged unofficial.
