Cut just ahead of the Prestige quintet locking into place, this date swaps in McLean's alto and Jackson's vibes for a brighter, lighter frontline sound. Bryant's blues-rooted piano and the Heath-Taylor rhythm team keep the swing honest.

Pressings
The earliest we list is the 1956 US Prestige LP 7034, mono, with a deep groove. A 1958 repress carries the same number, and Prestige reissued it again in 1964 in both mono -- including a blue-cover variant -- and stereo, still as LP 7034, so the catalogue number alone will not date a copy. Japanese reissues run from 1972. OJC-012 from 1982 is the reliable modern route, repressed in 2007 and again on gold vinyl in 2015.
