Herbie Hancock, months from his own leader date, brings gospel-tinged warmth to a quintet built around Byrd's long-running partnership with Pepper Adams. Watkins' steady bass work, familiar from his Jazz Messengers years, holds the rhythm section together.

We hold no original-era LP for this title. The earliest pressing on file is Blue Note LT-991 from 1979, carrying an RVG stamp, and the same year brought the UK LBR 1024 and a South African BNTJ(M) 1024. Brazil followed in 1980 and Japan issued GXK 8183 in 1981. Heavenly Sweetness reissued it in France on 180 gram in 2013, HS077VL, which is the easy copy to find.
