The record
A live snapshot of the Kind of Blue sextet caught months before that session, working through "If I Were a Bell" and "My Funny Valentine" with the loose swing of a working band on a good night. Coltrane and Cannonball trade sharply contrasting solos while Evans' chords already point toward the modal language just around the corner.
Session personnel
- Cannonball Adderley — alto saxophone
- Paul Chambers — bass
- Jimmy Cobb — drums
- Bill Evans — piano
- John Coltrane — tenor saxophone
- Miles Davis — trumpet
