The record
A big-band date led by clarinetist Tony Scott, stacked with a saxophone section deep enough to spare -- Zoot Sims, Frank Wess, Gigi Gryce, Sahib Shihab -- plus a young Bill Evans easing into the ensemble alongside Freddie Green's rhythm guitar. A rare chance to hear Evans as a section player rather than leader, folded into swing-schooled arrangements built around Scott's fluid horn.
