A West Coast rarity from the summer of '57, cut with a young Charlie Haden still years from Ornette and a vibraphone-led frontline that gives the date an airy, chamberish cast. Bley's harmonic restlessness is already audible here, hinting at the freer paths he'd chase in the decade ahead.
