The record
Blue Note's 10-inch BLP 5030 puts Donaldson's alto next to Clifford Brown's trumpet, with Elmo Hope at the piano and a rhythm section of Percy Heath and "Philly" Joe Jones -- a front line and a rhythm team that would be hard to improve on in 1953. Leonard Feather wrote the notes, Francis Wolff supplied the photography and John Hermansader the cover design.
