The record
Byrd and Fuller thicken the front line on this session, Sonny Clark's piano keeping the swing loose underneath. The lead horn still leans on its Bird roots, ahead of the funkier turn to come.

Pressings
The earliest pressings on file here are two 1958 US monos of BLP 1591 -- one deep groove, one with the deep groove on side one only. A 1961 mono follows, still deep groove, and stereo does not appear until the 1966 BST 81591 reissue. For a modern copy, Music Matters cut MMBST-81591 at 45 RPM in 2010 and Classic Records did BST 1591-200G, both stereo; Blue Note's 2005 BLP 1591 is the 200 gram mono.
