The record
An unusual front line pairing Dorham's trumpet with Charles Davis's baritone, backed by a young Steve Kuhn and two bassists cycling through the date. Cut in early 1960 as hard bop was hardening into a language, this session catches Dorham's warm, behind-the-beat lyricism amid a rhythm section still finding its footing.
