The record

A blues singer backed by a jazz rhythm section that pulls its weight: Kenny Burrell's guitar answering the vocal lines, Gildo Mahones at the piano, Eddie Khan and Roy Haynes underneath. Ten songs weighted toward blues repertory -- 'Nobody Knows You When You're Down And Out', 'It's A Low Down Dirty Shame', 'Blues In The Morning'. Rudy Van Gelder recorded and mastered it; Prestige released it in 1964.
