The record
Caught live at Monterey with Mal Waldron's spare piano behind her, Holiday works through a set framed by an all-star horn line -- Carter, Mulligan, DeFranco -- that steps back and lets her pauses do the talking. One of the final festival dates of her career, and it shows in every held note.
