The record
Verve's early-'70s Smith finds the blues undertow still churning, Edwards' tenor sparring with Crawford's guitar while Vinnegar and Dean hold a deep pocket underneath. Pantoja's congas thread a Latin pulse through the date, giving the session a loose, clubhouse warmth.
