The record
A bop repertoire played straight and hard: 'Bouncing With Bud,' '52nd Street Theme,' 'Au Privave.' Hank Mobley's tenor and Donald Byrd's trumpet handle the heads, Barry Harris comps underneath, and Doug Watkins and Art Taylor keep the tempos honest. Prestige PRLP 7061 from 1957, Ira Gitler's notes on the back and a ballad turn on 'Little Girl Blue.'

We hold no US original for this title -- the earliest pressing on file is the 1957 UK Esquire mono, 32-029, listed with an RVG stamp, and a desirable early copy in its own right. Prestige's own PR-7061 appears only as a 1996 mono reissue. Japanese monos run from 1973 on LPR-8869. The serious modern cut is Analogue Productions' APRJ 7061, mono and 200 gram, first listed in 2012.
