The record

Charlie Shavers's trumpet and Hal Singer's tenor make a front line built for blues at walking speed, and Ray Bryant is exactly the pianist for it -- gospel in the left hand, nothing wasted. Wendell Marshall and Osie Johnson keep it flat and swinging. Six tracks on Prestige, 1959, with Ira Gitler's liner notes and 'Blast Off' to close.
