The record
Jean Shepherd's narration tumbles over the title track's circus lurch, though Richmond's first date with the group matters more, launching a rhythmic partnership that would run for decades. "Haitian Fight Song" burns with a gospel-shout intensity that announces this Atlantic session's widescreen ambitions.

Pressings
The earliest we list is the 1957 Atlantic 1260 in mono; the Canadian AT 1260 from the same year carries deep groove labels, and the UK went out on London Records as LTZ-K 15164. Every US copy we hold into the sixties is mono, and 1260 stays in use through repressings to 1966, so the number alone will not date a copy. Later options are a 2001 Atlantic 1260 at 180gm, Speakers Corner's 2016 mono cut, and the 45rpm Analogue Productions APA 060-45 from 2024.
