The record
A quartet date cut just as Adderley was stepping into the Miles Davis orbit, with Wynton Kelly's bluesy comping and the interchanging bass and drum tandems keeping things loose and swinging. Riverside caught him lean and direct here -- no strings, no charts, just alto burning over rhythm.

Pressings
The earliest pressing on file here is the 1959 US Riverside mono RLP 12-303 with a deep groove; the stereo RLP 1148 is listed the same year and also deep-grooved, so mono and stereo are both in play. The 1960 US copies of 12-303 are repress rows, and UK Riversides follow in 1961. Later there is a 1987 Landmark LLP-1306 and a 2018 DOL flagged an unofficial release.
