The record
A budget-label reshuffle of Montgomery's early-60s sides, pairing him with fellow guitarist Kenny Burrell and a deep bench of pianists and drummers drawn from the Riverside/Verve years. Compiled well after his death, it's a reminder of how much first-rate rhythm section work -- Hank Jones, Jimmy Cobb, Milt Hinton among them -- surrounded his rise.
