Guaraldi's trio session turned holiday soundtrack has become as much a part of the season as the special itself, its light bossa touch and "Linus and Lucy" vamp proving that West Coast cool could swing gently enough for children -- and endure for generations of listening rooms since.

We hold no original-era LP for this title. The earliest rows on file are 1978 Fantasy 8431 reissues, some noted as Terre Haute pressings, followed by blue- and turquoise-label Fantasy copies in 1987 and F-8431 in 1988. After that it is largely colored vinyl and picture discs -- entertaining, but not a sound argument.
