A rare mid-'50s leader date from pianist-arranger Tony Aless, stacking a dream-team horn section -- Kai Winding and J.J. Johnson on trombones, Davey Schildkraut's alto, Seldon Powell's tenor -- into a suite-length showcase for his own writing. Cool-toned, arranger-driven bop from the Royal Roost stable, with Don Lamond and Billy Bauer lending the rhythm section real swing pedigree.
