The record
A brief but potent pairing of Coleman's regular front line with Scott LaFaro, whose elastic, singing bass lines push the harmolodic conversation into new corners. Cut for Atlantic during the same fertile month as several other Coleman dates, it's a snapshot of free jazz still finding its footing, restless and unresolved in the best way.

Pressings
The earliest we list is a 1962 US Atlantic mono promo of 1378, with stock mono and stereo SD 1378 from the same year -- one 1962 mono is noted with a laminate cover. UK buyers got London Records instead: LTZ-K 15241 mono and SAH-K 6235 stereo, the latter with a deep groove. Atlantic kept SD 1378 in print into the mid-seventies. Speakers Corner remastered it under the same number in 2025.
