The record
Cut for Columbia with a working combo, this date lets Cuber's baritone growl against a churning organ groove while the guitarist keeps his lines lean. Harlem after dark, played tight and unhurried.
Session personnel
- Ronnie Cuber — baritone saxophone
- Jimmy Lovelace — drums
- George Benson — guitar
- Lonnie Smith — organ

Pressings
Columbia issued this in 1966 in mono, CL 2525, and stereo, CS 9325, and those US copies are the ones to look at. A German CBS stereo, S 62 817, carries the same year, as do the UK's mono BPG 62817 and stereo SBPG 62817. The 1975 and 1976 US copies of CS 9325 are later plant pressings rather than remasters, and we list no audiophile reissue at all.
