The record

McBee's bass grounds the first recorded meeting of Jarrett and DeJohnette under Lloyd's name, the two already trading ideas with an ease that later filled halls twice this room's size. Tenor and flute glide over vamps that split the difference between Coltrane's church and the pop stages ahead.

Everything original-era here is 1966. The US mono, Atlantic 1459, and the stereo, SD 1459, both date from that year, with the stereo turning up from the Monarch and Terre Haute plants; the earliest row we list is actually the UK mono, 587025, alongside a UK stereo as 588025. Green-and-red label copies of SD 1459 are later reissues. A 2017 UK remaster, PPAN SD1459, covers the 180 gram end.
