The record

Kamuca's tenor and Gordon's trumpet spar loosely over Manne's kit at his own club's namesake engagement, the band relaxed in ways a studio session rarely allows. Feldman's piano fills the gaps with inventive, unhurried color.

Session personnel

  • Monty Budwig — bass
  • Shelly Manne — drums
  • Victor Feldman — piano
  • Richie Kamuca — tenor saxophone
  • Joe Gordon — trumpet
