The record
A West Coast date for a Detroit-bred baritone man, cutting against type with Rowles' airy comping and Lewis's brushwork giving Adams room to show the lyrical side of his famously hard-edged horn. Katzman's trumpet adds a bright foil, while Watkins anchors it all with the same steady pulse he brought to countless Blue Note sessions of the era.
