The record
Cannonball Adderley's alto storms through a Kind of Blue-era rhythm section on this Vee Jay date, one of the rare times Chambers got billing above the players who usually carried him. Hard bop fire wins out over modal calm from the opening bars.

Pressings
The earliest pressing on file here is the 1959 US mono VJLP 1014 on Vee Jay, with a stereo SR 1014 the same year showing deep groove. Japan got Top Rank's RANK-5021 in 1959 as well. Vee Jay represses of both numbers run 1961 to 1967 and look much alike, so check the labels. The later trail is almost entirely Japanese and Spanish reissues, with no audiophile edition listed.
