The record
A moody slab of early-'60s film-noir jazz, cut for a low-budget exploitation flick but stacked with A-list session talent -- Phil Woods, Al Cohn, and Eddie Costa lend real heat to Lowe's smoky arrangements. More curio than classic, but the playing is dead serious, a snapshot of New York's studio elite slumming it in style.
