The record
A little-documented late-'50s date built around a working two-tenor-plus-baritone front line, with Eddie Bert's trombone anchoring a working-band sound closer to rehearsal-hall arranging than star vehicle. RKO Records rarely ventured into jazz, making this a curious, journeyman snapshot of session players -- Gene Allen and Carmen Leggio among them -- stretching out together.
