The record
Two tracks on a ten-inch, one to a side: "Bags' Groove" and "Swing Spring," with Milt Jackson's vibes and Thelonious Monk's piano both working the harmony behind Davis' trumpet. That pairing is the reason to own it. Percy Heath and Kenny Clarke keep everything loose underneath. Rudy Van Gelder engineered, Ira Gitler wrote the notes, and Prestige issued it as LP 196 in 1955.
