Recorded just as Tyner was settling into the Coltrane quartet, this trio date with Elvin Jones announces his own voice -- cascading modal runs and that percussive left hand already fully formed. A quietly confident first leader session for Impulse!, made before the label's orange-and-black spines became jazz's house style.
