The record
A tightly voiced hard-bop front line of trombone and two horns lets Roach explore brass-heavy textures beyond the standard quintet blueprint. Cut for Mercury at the turn of the decade, it finds Stanley Turrentine's tenor already blooming alongside brother Tommy's brass and Priester's trombone, all locked to Roach's characteristically probing time.
