The record
Recorded the same year as his Coltrane date, this Impulse! session finds Hartman's baritone still steeped in balladry, now cushioned by Hank Jones and the twin guitars of Jim Hall and Kenny Burrell. Illinois Jacquet's tenor adds a bluesy warmth that keeps the mood plush without tipping into syrup.
