Recorded for Savoy in 1954 before Mainstream reissued it, this sextet date puts Pettiford's bass and Osie Johnson's brushes under Wess's flute, with Coker and Wilder rounding out the horns. Jazz flute finding mainstream footing right alongside Basie's own band.
