Cut just weeks after Little's own dates began winding down, this session pairs Dolphy's angular alto and bass clarinet with a young Ron Carter, still finding his footing on record. A brief, vital snapshot of the trumpeter's short recorded legacy alongside one of the era's most restless improvisers.

Pressings

The earliest pressing on file here is a 1962 US New Jazz mono, NJ 8270, with deep groove and an RVG stamp; 1963 mono copies on the same number carry both markers too. Prestige reissued it as PR 7747 in stereo in 1969, and Fantasy's OJC-400 followed in 1989. Analogue Productions has pressed NJ 8270 at 200 gram repeatedly since 2017 -- those are the cleanest new copies.
