The record
Verve teams DeFranco's clarinet with Tal Farlow's guitar, two players who pushed their instruments toward Parker's phrasing when few others tried. Clark and Wright keep the session blues-soaked and swinging, proof clarinet jazz had room to grow past the big-band years.
