The record

A Detroit bebop stylist steeped in Bud Powell's language, backed here by Elvin Jones just before his Coltrane tenure took off -- the drummer's push and pull already restless under Harris's clean, harmonically rich lines. Joe Benjamin's bass keeps things grounded while the trio moves through the leader's favored postbop repertoire with unhurried authority.
