The record
A quietly probing quartet date with Barry Harris and Elvin Jones giving Lateef's tenor, flute and oboe a springy, hard-bop pulse to push against. The oboe voicings especially mark this as Lateef quietly widening what a Prestige blowing session could sound like.

Pressings
The earliest regular pressing on file here is the 1962 New Jazz NJ 8272 in mono, deep groove with an RVG stamp; a 1961 test pressing of NJLP 8272 is also listed, but that is not a copy you will find in a shop. New Jazz went back to press in 1964 under both NJ 8272 and NJLP 8272, and Prestige folded the record into PR 7637 in 1972. The 1963 Japanese stereo SMJ 7127 is the outlier worth knowing, deep groove with a laminated sleeve.
