The record

Brother Alan's flugelhorn and Grachan Moncur's trombone thicken this sextet-plus frontline into something nearer chamber music than hard bop. Dense, freely voiced writing marks it as one of Shorter's most abstract Blue Note statements.

Pressings

The earliest we list are two 1966 US Blue Note copies -- stereo BST 84219 and mono BLP 4219, both carrying an RVG stamp. Label variants follow fast: a 1967 Bert-Co stereo and a Keystone-label repress catalogued BLP 84219. Van Gelder stamps persist through the black-b reissues of 1975 and 1977, so the stamp alone will not date a copy. The 1994 180-gram B1-29100 is the serious modern option on file.
