The record
Three horns crammed onto two shellac sides -- Miles Davis, J.J. Johnson on trombone and Jackie McLean on alto -- with Gil Coggins at the piano and Oscar Pettiford and Kenny Clarke underneath. A sextet is a lot of band for a 78, and "Dear Old Stockholm" is the side most people come for. Blue Note 1595, ten-inch shellac.
